Hands-on Animal Demonstrations

​H2O Livestock in Gordsonsville is owned by the Gillbert family and is a 4-H friendly farm which offers visitors of all ages a chance to find an egg, hold a baby goat or chick and milk a cow.; showcasing “hands on” animal care.

​The farm produces cattle, sheep and goats for sale and also breeds cattle and goats for 4-H members to exhibit in shows.  4-H educational events are hosted on the farm and attended by farm enthusiasts from all over the country. H20 Livestock also hosts regular farm tours for local schools and showcases several breeds of cattle, goats and chickens.

​In the past, the roadside pond on the farm served as a baptismal site for African American congregants in the community.  The farm’s previous owner, James Robert Butler, was the first African American chief of an agricultural extension service in Virginia.

Visitors are encouraged to find an egg, hold a goat or a lamb, or see a camel.  The farm produces goats, sheep and cattle, and the owners assist children with 4-H projects.
