William Fitzhugh Gordon purchased the farm in 1825. Gordon fought in the War of 1812, rising to the rank of major-general in the Virginia Militia. He later served in the Virginia House of Delegates and represented Virginia in Congress. The residence was rebuilt after a fire occurred in 1835.

Today, owners Tom and Florence Wilson raise sheep and Angus beef cattle on this 1200-acre farm. A native of Scotland, Mr. Wilson
conducts sheepdog trials twice each year at Edgeworth.
Mr. Wilson will give a sheepdog demonstration during the Farm Tour.
